Gender-based violence
Complaints registered under Law 348.
The violence committed against our bodies, our lives and our rights provokes the deepest outrage we women can feel. The figures are only a glimpse of the stories of terror we endure simply for being women and for disagreeing with the traditional roles the patriarchal system imposes.
It is no surprise that the data differ: this only confirms the need for the single register that Law 348 calls for, and that even after all this time its rollout still meets obstacles at every turn. The data cannot be the main subject of the debate; what is at stake is women's lives, their insecurity, their defencelessness and the constant risk of falling victim to a femicide.
We women take to the streets to put sexist violence on the public and media agenda, in the face of state indifference and social passivity, in a society used to treating the use of force as natural in order to hold women in servitude, to objectify them and to violate their fundamental rights.
